I have been posting large pictures at my PHOTO OF THE DAY section for almost a month now.
Today I chose Cynthia Alexander’s photo when she was recording bass parts for a song composed by Rico Blanco at HIT Productions almost exactly three years ago.
You can view the bigger photo here and I’ll be updating my photo of the day if you care to check it out. I try my best to write a story about the photo I’ve posted. :)

// My Top 10 Random Filipino Music Moments of 2011//

I must say it was pretty difficult to decide on which ones since there are so many wonderful moments that always happen when you’re surrounded by great musicians. I wanted to do an EVERYTHING Highlight of 2011, but decided to just separate them all into different categories, and the easiest for me to pick were the random ones.

These are my personal choices, based on how each event affected me. I’m sure each one of us have our own highlights, but these are the ones which are relevant to me and which I saw with my own eyes.

// Rhum Rock Fest Soundcheck//

Shot some behind the scenes photos at soundcheck in MOA last night. Schedule was a delayed from early afternoon to evening because of the rain.

I have to rush to there in a few hours but for me to be able to do that I have to do everything possible to wake myself up. It’s the first time I’m actually trying those energy drinks. O_o

I’ll upload the complete set of photos soon, but here are some of Ebe Dancel, Sandwich, Wolfgang and some members of Chicosci & Rico Blanco.

There you go…. I’m a part of this year’s Creative IT List. I have to admit, my soul jumped out of my body for a bit upon seeing this.
The past several years have been one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride. For some people what I do is similar to being an auto mechanic. Photography is undervalued by the usual impression that a good photo can be achieved by technical perfection.
However, I’ve always seen whatever endeavor I do not as a technical skill that is mastered through countless practice, but as an expression of self, which is what I think how everyone should think of when being a photographer. In my case its a desire to be unseen and merely observe others. Like a shield to mask the emotion of inadequacy as a both a creative and a human being, I am content on being a conduit to relay the star shine of other artists to music fans who needed music to save them.
So, having this kind of recognition, and the powerful words that Grace Velasco has described me in the opening line is extremely overwhelming. It was also very touching that Tammy David was the one who scanned this for us (and is also part of the IT List!!! I’m so honored to be included alongside you) . She has believed in what I did ever since the beginning. Unbeknownst to Tammy, she has given me so much insight to improving what I do and that despite everything, I still have a long way to go.
I have to thank the greats — Eddie Boy Escudero, Regiben Romana, Erik Liongoren who, prior to me, have documented our artists with probably even more love than I am giving it now. They deserve the recognition more than I.
Thank you so much to Kissa Castaneda and Erwin Romulo. Now I’m off to find a copy of PREVIEW’s October issue.
To all the music photographers who have expressed their love and devotion to the music industry and to those who plan on treading this path — We are one. Mabuhay kayo.

// Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Press Conference//

29 September 2011 —

Yesterday I walked to Century Park Hotel from my house. It was a gloomy day and thank God the rain stopped. I arrived early and saw the Warner Music Philippines peeps who helped organize the event because they were distributing the compilation album NGAYON which I heard will be sold on the day of the festival.

With Roanna, sad that she’s probably not hosting the Rock Fest. I think they need someone as badass (and with rock credibility) as her to do the job well.

The stars slowly started arriving…

Manny Pacquiao

China Crisis

I’m just kidding. You know who they are.

Posing as gatekeepers. Everyone who passed by them shook their hands. Pay your respects daw muna. Frey Z. (WMP) and Joey D. (EIC of PULP) Read that again, it sounds like a rap group.
