Techy Romantics showcased their new album in Republiq last November 26, 2011. They also took videos of this gig for a music video for their album / single “Escape” directed by King Palisoc.

Tomorrow (December 9, 2011) they’ll be having a digital launch of their album in Saguijo.

So bring USBs, iPods, MP3 players because they will have download hubs at the venue. Very environment friendly! I always would rather send files over yousendit rather than burn them into CDs where people would just lose them and throw them away, so this is something new.

Techy Romantics had a big event at Republiq last Saturday.

You can download their latest single from their upcoming album “Escape”.

A video was being filmed at the event by the team of Director King Palisoc. I took performance photos and will post them soon!

Camyl is so pretty!!!

NBK Tribute

16 July 2010

I feel blessed to be able to take pictures of legends of the club scene. To be honest, at 15, I would sneak out of the house to go to clubs. I’ve had my fare share of the last one or two Consortiums before I found my heart in rock music. (I hope my mother is not reading this) LOL. 15 years old means 13 years ago. Haha!

So when they say, “Let’s party like it’s 1999!” I WAS THERE, DEFINITELY.

I wish I had a camera then, oh wait. I DID! Let me look for those old pictures hahaha! But for now, some photos from that evening!

Work hard, party harder.

Happy Birthday again Apps. :) We love you. Kahit puro mukha ko yung andito. Haha!

While shooting DJs Manolet Dario & Bombi Balquiedra on stage for the NBK Tribute in Republiq last Saturday… I present you, my feet.

Saw this while sorting out pictures and had to crop it.

NBK presents Dave Tan of Electrico

If you don’t know Electrico, you’re missing a lot. I met Dave in 2007 during my tour with Rivermaya in Singapore where we saw The Rapture (I know I can’t get enough of saying that) in Zouk.

I was in Singapore also to buy this Creative Media Player that doubles as a hard drive where I can upload my CF cards’ contents into it without having to upload it in my computer. I’m not going into details on what it is because it’s very obsolete by now, haha!

Good friend, Singaporean music photographer Aloysius Lim made me borrow this media player so I could try it first, since he had one too. His playlist in the media player became my soundtrack for the whole trip. There was Radiohead among other things and of course, Electrico

I’ve heard of Electrico before, because of Rivermaya and how they all hung out with Parokya Ni Edgar during the MTV Asia Awards in 2005 where Rivermaya performed in front of a huge Asian audience. I’ve never really met Electrico or listened to their album until that year.

When I first heard them that day, I instantly liked them.

While in Zouk, I dared Dave that I would bring their album here in Manila and will pitch them to radio stations to have them played. No one was pushing their music here in Manila despite the numerous commendations they’ve obtained in SouthEast Asia and beyond.

One day while I was hanging out at NU. I think it was stil Andy Banandy on board and she announced the Electrico’s “Love in New Wave” (I can’t find the actual music video but the link is a remix) had been number one for 2 consecutive weeks. I was surprised because I kind of forgot about it. Because of that, Warner Music Philippines helmed by Ricky Ilacad (now the head of MCA Universal) had their album locally printed and distributed.

In 2008, their next album We Satellites was released. Less than a year later, Jam 88.3 flew in Electrico to perform at their annual music fest. It was such a joy to think how everything came together from touring with a band merely to take photos, and fellow photographer Aloy lending me his music player and the rest became history!

Last week Dave dropped by Manila very quickly for a short set with different musicians and DJs at Encore.

He performed with Robby Mananquil of Lip Service, who is quite a very good guitar player. I’ve heard their version of The Dawn’s Living Seed for the Tribute Album and surprisingly very much liked it.

Supermodel Valerie De Los Santos looking on while boyfriend Robby sets up his guitar.

Chico Cristobal (which you probably don’t know is from a band called Bonehead, which released an album in the 90s and I actually saw that album in the library of NU107, haha) and Mr. Marcus of Tribu Manila on Percussions (how can I forget this guy, he lipsynced to the song I wrote in one of their TV Shows LOL).
