POPOCALYPTIC
These photo artworks were the ones that I exhibited at the Ayala Museum last December 11. The idea came from the creation Album cover artworks, how interesting the vinyl ones decades ago were.
Prior to that I conceptualized the album cover of The Camerawalls’ Bread & Circuses, which Karlo Rono helped out with the layout and photography and Angelo Maniquis took over with the final layout and treatment.
That was my first album cover (not counting my cartoon of Rivermaya’s Between the stars and waves, which wouldn’t have been accepted anyway, haha). I thought that if I were to see an album, these were what it would look like.
I have been aware of Doomsday since I was 9. I do a lot of research since this topic greatly interests me. I wouldn’t impose my knowledge, but I know what I believe in and all I can say is that we shouldn’t be scared.
Because it isn’t scary to me, I decided to whimsically visualize my version of what “The Almost End of The World to Me” would look like.
I call this set Popocalyptic…. and I am currently attempting to release another batch by December 2011 and then the last by December 2012.
If I don’t, then I don’t. In the end, no material things or amount of recognition will matter, anyway.
Ayala Museum Exhibit

Our set up, Karlo and I at the Ayala Museum. There were 10 photos, we gave 5 each.
A certain manager of a known band wanted to purchase two of our photos. I hope it pushes through.
I only invited a few people I was close to and not all of them could make it because of the Christmas Rush, sadly but I’m glad some of them came. Feanne dropped by with stories of Tokyo and designing silver pieces…

and Kerin of course, my most loyal groupie and one of my muses (there I said it) went like, “aren’t you going to take a picture of me?” It wasn’t even, “Let’s have a photo together.” I’m hurt.
Kerin’s comments were really something, from “It looks like a battle, with a Beatles touch” (complete with ala vogue hand gestures) then saying, “it reminds me of Dali” to ”this is very Amorsolo”. Super schizophrenic (and a bit retarded) plus I don’t believe one bit of them, but she made me laugh really hard and I think that was the point of it all. I will never forget what she said, haha! She also told my that she had only one favorite because the rest of my photos are depressing. Although she did say that one of them was a potential album cover. I love you forever.
But she said some really smart amazing stuff, but I’m not going to patronize her. This is about me! LOL

Congratulations to The Camerawalls for the successful launch of their EP. I got to see the album layout and it was awesome! You guys should go get a copy!
The Camerawalls EP Launch tomorrow at the Ayala Museum.
if you go, you can preview a photo collection from myself and Karlo Roño (we collaborated on the photography for the album cover).
This is my 3rd group exhibit in photography (my 1st ever group exhibit was a fashion installation, haha). The first one was in SFO which I could never go, anyway LOL. The second one was a fund raising for a friend whose mom had cancer at the time. All of it has nothing to do with music photography, funny.
I only found out last night that Ayala Museum’s curator had to approve before we were allowed to exhibit. That makes it even cooler because we got approved! Many thanks to Clem and Val!
I call it Popocalyptic. My satirical take on the ‘almost’ end of the world.
Check out more details about the event here.
P.S. Happy Birthday Clem!
